Mother's Day

Poor Todd, he got himself stuck in a conundrum.  He asked me on Saturday if he should get me flowers for Mother's Day.  I told him it would be nice but now that he asked he couldn't buy them, it was a no win situation for him.  He did get me a nice massage certificate but when it comes to flowers, I'd rather have them be spontaneous and not because the stores say you need to buy them for Mother's Day/Valentines/Anniversary/Etc.  So Todd here it is in writing for you, when you buy flowers for me do it because you want to and not because everyone says you have to.  Just be spontaneous just because you are thinking of me, it's just for fun,  or whatever the reason.

Mother's Day was nice with cute homemade cards from the girls, Todd taking care of dinner, and Abby setting up her own massage spot in the home that all the girls took advantage of her kindness.  I am grateful to have 4 beautiful children that call me mom and that I have the opportunity to raise them.  It the hardest and best job I've ever had.

Pet Parade

One of the last things Kaitlyn did in Kindergarten was make her own pet for a pet parade.  They had to use household items and had to make sure they had all the right body parts.  Kaitlyn came up with this dog on all on her own.  She told me what to do with the glue and that was the extent of my help.  Kaitlyn did a great job!

Six Flags

Back in May towards the end of the school year, we surprised the girls by taking them out of school early and surprised them with a day at Six Flags.  This time we took Olivia with us and enjoyed a pretty empty park (minus the school groups) and beautiful weather.  The first area was the kiddie area and no one was there.  We rode the rides over and over again if we wanted.  We had some short wait times in on the other rides but nothing too bad.  I took Abby on the Flashback, which used to be my favorite in High School, and I had a hard time riding it.  Afterwards I told Todd I was going to have to sit down for awhile.  Man I'm getting old!  I did feel better later and Abby and I rode the new Texas Giant - that is my new favorite ride at Six Flags.

Family fun day!

The car ride is one of the favorites that the girls just have to do over and over again.

I don't know what it is about driving a really slow car on a track.

Olivia enjoyed Six Flags so much, I took her the following week on a date with just the two of us.  Again, we were able to ride rides over and over again without waiting.  She was having so much fun that she didn't want to leave.  Olivia's favorite was the carousal.  She would walk around and around looking for the prettiest horse to ride.

I need to post a few of Olivia's accomplishments over the past few months.  Since January I enrolled Olivia in a 3 year old gymnastics class and she absolutely loved it!  She had some good coaches and it was fun to see all the things she learned to do.  She was very brave doing the zip line and then falling into the pile of foam blocks.  Her favorite thing to do was jump on the trampoline and jump into the foam blocks.  I'll need to do something like this again for her in the Fall.

Olivia also took swim lessons so she'd be a little more comfortable in the pool.  She was able to swim a little ways on her own with her head in the water and loved going down the water slides.  I'm sure by the end of the summer she'll just be swimming more without her floaties.

Another soccer season has passed us by.  Abby played with her same team again, this is going on 7 seasons together with the same girls.   The girls decided that they were too old for the name Soccer Princesses so they changed their name at the end of last season to the Hot Shots.  New uniform and a new names this year!  These girls are so fun to watch.  Games are close and intense sometimes!  Abby plays defender, midfield and goalie.  The last game of the season she made the first goal and it was just beautiful! Next Fall she moves onto a bigger field and more players.  Should be interesting!

Goalie Abby - I was always nervous when she played goalie because I didn't want a ball to get past her.  She played great!

I got suckered into making the cake for the team party- the reason why I didn't do anything fancy for Alec, they were on the same weekend and one fancy cake was enough.  The green rectangle was vanilla and the round cake was chocolate and we ate cake for days.

Kaitlyn is starting to become more aggressive in her playing.  This is her third season playing on her team - the Soccer Chicks.   She scored several goals this year and tried hard.  She has made huge improvements from her first season playing.
