Botanical Gardens, The 12 Days of Christmas

We haven't been to the Botanical Gardens since Abby was 4 and we went with her preschool class.  A  lot had changed and during Thanksgiving break we were able to take a look at the display of the 12 Days of Christmas.

The kids loved walking around but when we came to this hill, rolling down, running and leaf collecting were a huge hit!

 After finding all the 12 displays we headed over to the kids area.  It's fairly new and so much fun!  We spent half the day exploring this area.

Disney on ice

Todd got us free tickets to see a Disney on Ice show, he stayed home with Devin and I took the others to the show.  It was on Black Friday and traffic was horrible and then we had to drive home in a crazy rainstorm!  It was a fun evening with the kids and I realized how many older classics Alec had not seen - Peter Pan for one!  He kept asking where Jake (from Jake and the Neverland Pirates) was and didn't realize Peter Pan and Capt Hook go further back.  Time to watch some of the older classics!

Rollerskating Fun

During Thanksgiving break the kids were able to pick activities and they always jump at the chance to roller-skate.  This time Alec was able to try it out for the first time and he loved it!  Cousins made it extra fun!

Turkey Day

Thanksgiving was pretty low key.  Grandpa and Grandma Porter had gone to Ohio to spend it with the Ohio Porters so it was the Yosts and Stephens enjoying a meal together.

Abby made that place cards, and Laurie and I split the cooking with Cade tackling the turkey.  Leftovers are always a favorite!

 Every year we make a turkey and each day add a feather for what we are grateful for.  Love what they put down!

Holiday in the Park

We had bought season passes to Six Flags and were trying to take advantage of the last month with some Holiday in the Park.  

We meet up with the Coopers for some fun times together.  We were able to split kids up and do rides with friends and everyone got to do things they liked which was so nice.  The lines were really long so we'd spend the time playing the Head's Up app and I think the kids enjoyed that over anything!

 Alec loved the Mini-Mine train but we forced him to do some bigger rides too.  He was not a fan of the Conquistador - the boat that goes back and forth - but he survived!

We tried doing a couple more trips but our stays didn't end up being very long.  It was super crowded, some lines over an hour long, and the first 3 rides shut down just as we were getting close to the front.  We did what we could and called it an early evening.
