It's amazing how fast these first couple of weeks have gone by. Olivia is such a good baby. Most nights I get 3-4 hours of sleep at a time. She hardly cries, when she does I think it's so cute to hear that little cry I just want to listen to it. And of course, like most babies, she just eats, sleeps, and poops. I've forgotten how many diapers a new baby goes through in a day.

The other day, I was doing Kaitlyn's hair when Olivia started crying, Abby quickly rushed into the room where she was sleeping and put a pacifier in her mouth to sooth her. Abby tells me, "I did this to her so she'd go to sleep." Abby then demonstrates how she puts her finger to Olivia's eye to try and shut it.

We got a new car seat for Kaitlyn and with that was a nice big box that the girls have made into a boat, car, plane, house, you name it...Here they are taking a "nap" in their house. Hours of entertainment.

The girls are doing well adjusting to their new sister. Abby is always wanting to hold her and see her. Abby just doesn't want to call her Olivia. She wants to call her Sister Baby. Todd and I keep calling her Kaitlyn. As for Kaitlyn, she loves to watch Olivia get her diaper changed and can imitate a good baby cry. Both have been really sweet with her and we hope it keeps up.

She's Here!

Olivia Pearl Yost was born on Jan. 20th at 11:13 pm weighing in at 7 lbs 9 oz.

Contractions started at around 6:00 pm while we were finishing dinner. They were 12 minutes apart for an hour. We ran some errands and took the girls out for ice-cream when the contractions started coming at 7 minutes apart. We headed home, Grandma was called to come over and Todd and I got ready to head to the hospital. We arrived at the hospital and ready by 9:00, I was at a 5/6 and quickly asked for the epidural. If we came an hour later that wouldn't have happened. Olivia was born quickly thereafter at 11:13, a very healthy baby. We are all doing great and love our new addition.

Congratulations to Sarah S. who was the closest on the predictions- she said the 20th, 11 pm, 7 lbs and 7 oz. Great guess Sarah!

What Not to Say to a Pregnant Woman

Things that have been said to me over the course of my pregnancy. Most of these come from strangers.

"Ah, another girl, are you so sad?" Why would I be sad about having another kid? And I love my girls, having another is great!

"Another girl, your poor husband." Todd is a fantastic dad to girls, he's not sad.

"Are you finished or are you going to try for that boy?" I'll mention we're going to have 1-2 more kids after this. Again, this statement is from people I don't know. What's it to them whether or not we're going to have more kids or not?

"Wow! You're HUGE!/BIG!" Really? Hadn't noticed? It's what happens when you are pregnant. Every woman feels big when we're pregnant. We don't need to be reminded. Pay us a compliment instead. I loved hearing this past month "No way are you 9 months." or "You look great for about to have a baby." Yes, those things make me feel better.

And my personal favorite that I heard a few times from people I don't know: "How much weight have you gained?" Really? You're asking me that? It's like asking someone how much money they make. This is one you don't ask. However, I will tell you, I have gained less with this one than I did with Abby or Kaitlyn. Probably has to do with running around, chasing two other kids. I'm still in the "normal" weight gain, but who cares! It's one of the few times I feel like I can indulge. After all, I'm eating for two!

Hives

We had our first allergic reaction in our house. Kaitlyn had pink eye earlier this week and went on some drops. Wednesday night she came into my room several times crying but would fall asleep next to me for a little while. She'd then wake up grabbing at her legs and feet. I didn't think anything of it except maybe she had leg cramps and after me rubbing her legs a little, she'd fall back asleep. (Todd was still out of town and I was just exhausted to think anything else.) Abby also came in the room later because of nightmares. Overall, it wasn't a good night for any of us.

Thursday night, Kaitlyn wakes up crying about a hour after we put her to bed and she's again grabbing at her legs. This time, wise Todd takes off her pjs to investigate. Her poor little body was covered in hives. She was shaking and itchy all over. Poor girl. We quickly got some Benadryl on her and by morning there were no more hives. My theory is that she had an allergic reaction to something in her eye drops. She actually got a good dose of it on Thursday with Todd home. During the week I was trying to put the drops in with her eye closed tightly and me trying to get them open and probably didn't do a very good job at doing it.

On other Dr. news, I'm at a one (I was so confidant I was further along) however, this baby will probably come some time next week. The name debate is still going on.

**I thought I left some info in the comment section, wasn't there. Here's the stats on my other girls. Abby, born 2 days early 6 lbs 9 oz. Kaitlyn, a week early (induced), 6 lbs 11 oz. They have been small little babies and I hope this one is too!

Christmas morning

This is a little late but I thought the video of Kaitlyn opening a Dora color wonder was too fun. She had the same expression and scream for just about everything she opened.

Abby got what she wanted- a "pink, kitty-cat webkinz!" and some Barbies.

Christmas day we headed over to my parents for some fried turkey and I was able to get Kaitlyn's hair in pig-tails so I had to take a picture. She's finally getting some hair!

36 Weeks and counting

We are in the final stretch! I know I am ready for this kid - especially when I gain a lot of weight in the 9 month (darn holiday treats didn't help much either)! I am into the nesting stage, with what I can do without killing over. I feel so huge! I have hit the stage of insomnia, swollen feet, and feel like my insides are getting kicked constantly. Oh, and the heartburn. It always comes this last month. Yuck! (Just what you wanted to hear.)

Abby sure has been a big helper with whatever I need. Kaitlyn has done some regression this past month with sleeping. Kaitlyn has been very "mom" needy and for the past few weeks won't go to bed or nap. Two things that do not make a happy kid. The temper tantrums we've had this month! Some were 2+ hours long! We finally had to move Kaitlyn's bed out of the room she was sharing with Abby so at least Abby can get some sleep. She is also doing the whole "carry you" (she means "me") and wants me to carry her all the time, something I cannot do. But then, she has gotten a little more independent on things. She'll get herself into her car seat, dress herself with getting the pants on successfully and needing help with the top, puts on her own shoes, and does a great job, most the time, with cleaning up her toys.

We are still debating on baby names (probably won't be decided until day 2 of child's life) and I still have things I need to hurry and get done while I can. Only a few weeks left!

On a Roll

Todd bought me a sewing machine for Christmas and I decided I better try it out with another project. This time I made crayon rolls for my girls for church. The first one took me 4x as long to make as the second (Several undoing with my seam ripper). I learned from my mistakes and was able to get the second one done in less than an hour!
