March Madness

March was a bit crazy and most of the craziness took place within a week of each other.  Biggest thing of course was Devin being born.  Todd was promoted - Horray!!!  And two days after I came home from the hospital Todd and I looked at a house about a mile away that popped up on the market.  We both loved it and put an offer on it so now we are moving!  We just like to keep life exciting.

Soon this house will be for sale.  9 years after we moved in.  It's been a great house.
This is our new home.  It's 19 years old, tons more space, and will need renovations but...
this is our view from the back of the house!
(pictures were taken a month a part hence all the green from Spring)
When we put our offer in, there was an open house the following day.  We went back through the home again but still felt great about buying it.  We found out that night there were 2 other offers put in and our agent said we should bring our best offer forward - pay $20k over asking.  It didn't sit right with me to do that because we did see a lot of work that was going to be needed so I said we stand with our offer but flexible on closing.  One offer backed out so it was us and one other offer.  We raised our offer by 5k but that was it.  We lost the bid to the other offer because they were going to pay cash.  Well a week later, last day of the option period for the other buyers, they cancelled their bid on the house at 9:30 that night.  When we got the call the house was ours since we put in a backup offer, I couldn't believe it.

We have already closed on the home, the owners are renting back until mid-June and then we go in and renovate.  It will be a crazy summer but we are excited about having more space!  And another bonus, kids don't have to change schools!

Misc. March updates on the fam

ALEC:
Alec entertaining Devin.  Alec became a really big boy shortly after Devin was born.  He literally grew a bit but he just became a little boy and not so much a toddler.
Alec of course is happiest when he's making messes.  Usually it consists with water and he loves to "help" with the yard work.
Alec has been great with playing with his trains.  They will entertain him for a long time.

ABBY:
She has become quite the babysitter.  We have paid her to help watch Alec at soccer games and sometimes at home.  She also helps me a ton at night when Todd's not home when she holds Devin while I get the other kids to bed.

KAITLYN:
Had a fun field trip with her school friends to the arboretum.

Waiting around at Abby's soccer practice she gets to ride the zip line.
OLIVIA:
Tried rock climbing for the first time and loved it!  She's asking for when we can all go.
MOM AND DAD:
tired.

 DEVIN:
Eat, sleep, repeat. And be cute!

These pjs were the first ever baby gift I received when I was pregnant with Abby.  My mom gave them to me and they are gender neutral because at the time we didn't know Abby was a girl.  Anyway,  all the kids have worn these pjs and they will be one that will go in the keep box just because of that.

Having a new baby puts house cleaning low on the list.  This is just one spot of a room covered in legos.  It usually stays like this for a week or two and finally I say "clean up!" because I have to vacuum.  My house is a mess.

Blessing Day

When Devin was 2 weeks old we were able to bless him while Gma and Gpa Yost were here.  It was such a special day and I'm so glad we were able to enjoy it with family.   Our home is blessed to have this little boy here.  I think he might be the happiest and easiest baby we've had.

Before Devin was born I was thinking how crazy it was to bring another baby into our family but I can't imagine our family without him!  After having Alec and knowing there was a higher risk for me to have placenta previa again, I was nervous to try to have another baby.  I just felt strongly that we were missing one more baby and there was someone waiting to join our family.

Weeks 1 and 2

The first couple weeks with Devin home has been a lot of sleeping by him and by mom.  Grandma Yost made sure I took a good nap every day and it was so nice not to have to worry about anything except sleeping.  Devin is not much of a crier and is really a good baby.  I loved just laying down next to this sweet baby and watching him.  I always wonder what is going through babies minds when they are so new.

Sweet, sweet baby.  I could kiss these cheeks all day.

The weather has been unusually chilly for March but we did manage a walk to go feed the ducks.  It was a lot colder than I thought but Alec enjoyed getting out and chasing after the ducks.

Just love how he sleeps with his hand by his face.
Evening feedings always leads to hiccups with this boy.

Crazy bath hair!  This one needs a haircut!
When Frozen came out we had a little Frozen party.  Grandma had the girls make Svens out of Nutter Butters and Olafs out of marshmallows.

Devin likes baths.  He really liked the first one and didn't scream like all my others.
